A warm welcome to the Ashdown Forest Riding Association (AFRA).


The Ashdown Forest has over 81 miles of safe riding and with over 6,500 acres, (10 square miles) for you to roam at your leisure. Riding is by permit only which you can obtain from the Ashdown Forest Centre and AFRA members receive a discount on the cost of an annual permit.

AFRA Objectives

1. To assist in conserving the Forest in its natural state for the benefit of walkers and riders alike.

2. To work in liaison with the Conservators to improve riding conditions.

3. To ensure that Ashdown Forest is kept available for use by horse riders with the minimum of restrictions.

AFRA Events

AFRA run several events through out the year including quiz nights and the September pleasure ride over 12 miles of the forest is always a firm favourite.

AFRA Barn Dance 4th June 2016

The AFRA Barn Dance has been booked and will be on Saturday 4th June 2016 at the Llama Park. More details in the Spring.

AFRA Pleasure Ride, 18th September 2016

The 2016 ride will be on Sunday 18th September. Come along and if you haven't been before, you won't be disappointed.

Tickets £18.00 to include dancing from 1930 hrs to 2300 hrs, food (spit roast chicken & chips or vegetarian chili & rice), free entry to the Llama Park for the evening and free parking.
