warm welcome to the Ashdown Forest Riding Association (AFRA).
Ashdown Forest has over 81 miles of safe riding and with over
6,500 acres, (10 square miles) for you to roam at your leisure.
Riding is by permit only which you can obtain from the Ashdown
Forest Centre and AFRA members receive a discount on the cost
of an annual permit.
To assist in conserving the Forest in its natural state for
the benefit of walkers and riders alike.

dog walkers code of conduct for the Ashdown Forest which we
thought it would be a good idea to put on the website. It
benefits riders and dog owners as parts of it apply to both.

AFRA Pleasure Ride

The ride is almost entirely off-road over heathland and
woodland with far reaching views and beautiful scenery.
There are no jumps. There is some uneven terrain. The Forest
Paths will be clearly marked and road crossings will be

to the northern reaches of the Forest, approximately 12
miles. Riders will leave between 9.30 a.m. and 12 a.m.,
individually or in groups, and will start as near to their
